Requirements & Preparation: Preparing Your Photos for Scanning

Please follow these guidelines it prepare you order for print scanning. Order prices are based on following specific guidelines otherwise additional charges apply as indicated in the order form. Your order preparation is very important. Pricing for shoebox scanning is based on your following certain guidelines in preparing you order.

All photographs for this service must be removed from albums.

This service is only available from prints. Negatives and slides are handled by our other available services and prices.

Photos may not be stored individually in envelopes. Only loose photos can be included with the order.

Photos in albums or individual envelopes will not be processed.

Prints with staples, tears, tape, mounted on heavy backing or Polaroid type prints, are not eligible for this service and may only be completed with the order for additional fees as listed in the order form and price schedule.

Prints may be from wallet size (2 ½ X 3 ½ “) to as large as 8X10”.

Photos must be prepared in specific order from the smallest size to the largest size and will be scanned in order of size. Orders requiring scanning in specified print order require additional service fees.

Photos are all to be placed together horizontally in a box (or in sequentially marked envelopes holding at least 50 photos per envelope).

All vertical (portrait layout) photos must be positioned with the heads in the same direction. Horizontal (landscape layout) photos must also be placed so that all are oriented in the same direction (heads up). Photos placed upside down will be scanned and displayed upside down.

Prints requiring both front side and back side scanning (to show back side notes and marks) must be grouped together following the above preparation guidelines. Each two sided print scan counts as two prints.

Show Box scanning is designed to archive your photos digitally and our standard service (300 DPI) will allow photo print reproduction to be made as large as 5x7 in print size. For larger print size reproductions, you may request our premium shoebox scanning service (600 DPI) for an additional service fee.
